Join us at the Westin Waltham Hotel on Tuesday, October 25, to network and hear from inspiring women, while celebrating the presentation of the 2022 Women to Watch Awards to an exceptional group of emerging and experienced leaders from across the accounting industry.

COVID-19, economic uncertainty, political divide and inconsistent access to childcare and school and other services are wreaking havoc on our sense of wellbeing. It’s crucial that we take action to preserve our mental health and break down the barriers around this critical subject. In this session, we’ll explore strategies for managing our mental wellbeing during this uncertain time and identify ways to take your mental health “temperature,” reviewing areas where you might need to make adjustment. We’ll also apply strategies for preserving your mental health beyond the “usual” recommendations and discuss steps to take if you need additional support.

In this candid discussion, Carla McCall, CPA, CGMA, managing partner at AAFCPAs, will share her career path from staff accountant to managing partner. McCall will reflect on the best piece of advice she received that helped her get to where she is today: be authentic, and lead in a way that is innate to you. She will also discuss some of the most significant marks she’s made on the firm, the one question she dislikes the most, keys to creating an inclusive culture and what’s in store for the profession.

The principles of the tango dance are used to demonstrate the mindset, skills and presences essential to leadership. In this session, you’ll learn how to inspire others to listen, follow and lead, as well as highlight the unique communication challenges of women in charge and their male allies. You’ll also understand the impact of your nonverbal cues and practice tango leadership communication strategies

Carla McCall

Carla McCall, CPA, CGMA, is managing partner at AAFCPAs where she leads the firm’s strategic vision for the future, while ensuring day-to-day operations are keeping up with today’s urgent demands. She is responsible for driving the expansion of services for clients beyond the core audit and tax, including managed accounting, wealth management, robotic process automation, IT and cybersecurity, system selection and implementation and data analytics.
