Meet the 2021 Women to Watch Award Winners

MassCPAs, in partnership with the AICPA’s Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee, is pleased to announce the seven recipients of the 2021 Women to Watch Awards! The awards recognize outstanding women in the accounting profession and are given in two categories: Emerging Leaders (fewer than 15 years in the profession) and Experienced Leaders (15 or more years in the profession). There were many exceptional nominees this year, making it a very difficult decision for our judging panel. Congratulations to these exceptional women!

The winners will be honored at MassCPAs 2021 Women’s Leadership Summit on October 28 at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston. For details about the Summit and to register, visit masscpas.org/women21.

Hillary Caplan, CPA, assurance manager, CohnReznick
Hillary Caplan, CPA, is an assurance manager in CohnReznick’s Boston office and has five years of public accounting experience, providing audit, technical accounting, financial statement preparation and IPO readiness services. Her primary industry concentrations are technology, life sciences, manufacturing and cannabis. In addition, Caplan serves as a firm ambassador for her firm and volunteers through the CohnReznick CARES community service initiative. Heavily involved in recruiting new talent and mentoring interns and staff through the firm’s coach/coachee program, she also actively attends virtual and in-person networking events through which she brings in potential clients and new opportunities to the firm.

Shanikwa Davis, CPA, MST, MSA, senior tax advisor and principal, S. Davis Tax Consultants, Inc.
Shanikwa Davis, CPA, MST, MSA, is a senior tax advisor and principal at S. Davis Tax Consultants, Inc., an enrolled agent and an online tax instructor for Northeastern University Graduate School of Business. She works extensively with families, their attorneys and investment advisors as they identify planning opportunities and appropriate filings to ensure they follow fiduciary filings. In addition, Davis provides tax planning, advisory and accounting services to assist companies to run their businesses effectively and efficiently with areas of focus in individuals (whether resident, nonresident, or multi-state income tax filings), tax compliance as it relates corporations, flow through entities’, estates, trusts and gift tax reporting. She also prepares returns, administrative filings, advises and represents corporate entities and individuals worldwide.

Meredith Fuller, senior manager, Baker Newman Noyes
Meredith Fuller is a senior manager in the assurance practice at Baker Newman Noyes, specializing in providing auditing services to both public and private companies in the retail and healthcare industries. She is responsible for budgeting, planning, organizing and executing all phases of financial statement audits, including fraud and industry risk analysis, account fluctuation and trend analysis, internal control compliance, financial statement substantive testing, and review of financial statements and related footnotes in accordance with GAAP. Prior to this role, Fuller was previously with a Big Four accounting firm and in finance at a consulting firm in Boston.

Krista Huebner, CPA, MSA, senior manager, EY
Krista Huebner, CPA, MSA, is a senior manager in EY’s consulting practice where she provides consulting, attestation and auditing services to an array of global and local clients, ranging from internal audit, risk and controls transformation, third-party risk management, and process improvement with a primary focus on strategy execution, portfolio optimization and transformation management. She has led numerous firm initiatives, (executive chair of the New England Professional Women's Network, People Advisory Boards, campus recruiting, annual fundraising for Christmas in the City & the Wunderfund, etc.), and is heavily involved in contributing to her community. Additionally, Huebner previously served as chief of staff for EY’s Americas Consulting Deputy Vice Chair where she managed the strategic priorities for the Americas consulting business, encompassing 21,000 people across 10 business units (including the U.S., Canada, Israel, LATAM North and South). She also serves as a Women’s Network Advisory Board Member for Boston Chamber of Commerce's and as a committee member for the United Way's Women United Executive Committee.

Erin Coco, CPA, audit shareholder, tonneson + co
Erin Coco, CPA, is an audit shareholder at tonneson + co with more than 20 years of experience in public accounting and co-leads the firm’s client accounting and advisory services department. In the audit department, she serves nonprofit organizations and privately-held companies across various industries. In addition, Coco participates in strategic planning initiatives and frequently represents the firm at industry events and is involved in the firm’s mentoring program. She also serves as the treasurer of Communitas, a nonprofit organization that delivers individualized, family-centered services, programs and support for people of all abilities, across their lifespan and in their communities.

Donna Roundy, CPA, senior manager, Meyers Brothers Kalicka, P.C. 
Donna Roundy, CPA, is a senior manager at Meyers Brother Kalicka, P.C. where she oversees the HUD and nonprofit niches regarding client relations, staff training, regulatory requirements and engagement management. In addition, she has worked with the partners at MBK on organizational projects, including streamlining the audit process and project management initiatives. Previously published in BusinessWest, Roundy is a role model and mentor to several young professional women at the firm, and serves as current treasurer and executive committee member of NAMI Western Massachusetts, Inc. She also was a past board member and treasurer for Martin Luther King, Jr. Family Services Inc. and has performed volunteer work for The Food Bank, Square One and many other organizations.

Leanne Scott, JD, LL.M., senior manager, Baker Newman Noyes
Leanne Scott, JD, LL.M, is a senior manager in the Baker Newman Noyes’ Boston tax practice, specializing in the state and local taxation of businesses and individuals. She works with multiple areas of state and local taxation, including income, franchise, and gross receipts taxes, sales and use tax, premium tax and other tax types. In addition, Scott’s experience includes tax consulting, multi-state tax planning, tax controversies, credits, and incentives, and return preparation and review. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, she previously served as the director of state and local taxes for a Boston-based financial services and insurance company and spent 15 years with various public accounting firms. Scott is also a frequent author and speaker and regularly conducts internal trainings for colleagues on a variety of state and local tax topics.
