CEO Corner

Dear Hannah,

The Workforce Training Express Fund continues to be a hot topic with firm and business leaders – and for good reason. Through this state program, firms and companies can be reimbursed $30,000 each year on their training costs. If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it, so as we enter the final quarter of the year, I want to make sure you don’t leave money on the table.

Employers who contribute to the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) qualify for this program as a benefit of those contributions, so make sure to use these funds!

This is the best way to get quality CPE for free – all  MassCPAs conferences, seminars and team trainings qualify for this program. Since last July, 237 firms/companies have taken advantage of and saved more than $750,000 on their CPE with MassCPAs. This year, more than 100 firms/companies have already benefited from this incredible opportunity. Browse our website for upcoming conferences and seminars or contact Julia Ekelund to create a training plan specifically for your team, virtually or in person.

MassCPAs will walk members through the process of applying for reimbursement – simply contact Julia for assistance. While the paperwork can take some time initially, after you have gone through the process once, it is simple to repeat (and of course, we are always here to help you at any time). You must register and apply for reimbursement three weeks prior to the start of the training, so don’t delay.

The program resets on January 1, so if you’ve already met the $30,000 cap this year, now is a good time to make a training plan for 2023. Our team is happy to plan your courses for next year based on your needs and interests, so email Julia to get started.

Lastly, MassCPAs will be closed on Monday, September 5. Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
