Baker Administration Trims $294 Million Off Budget
Facing lagging revenues, Governor Baker’s administration has issued $294 million in mid-year budget cuts. The administration also plans to offer buyouts to state workers in order to close the budget gap for fiscal year 2017.

AICPA Flags Drone Policy as an Emerging Issue for CPA Firms
The AICPA’s State Regulation and Legislative Team is working in collaboration with state CPA societies to monitor trends in an emerging area of state legislation: drones. In August, a new FAA rule took effect that broadly authorizes commercial drone operations in the United States, vastly opening up the potential for drone operations and lowering the cost of entry for CPA firms looking to adapt their audit and inspection processes.
