Dear Hannah,

I’m thrilled to share that The HUB is here! For years, our members have asked for more convenient ways to engage with their peers, so we developed The HUB where you can connect anytime, anywhere. The HUB is the MSCPA’s private online member community and is one of our most extensive member benefits yet.

The HUB gives you the opportunity to:

•             Find and interact with members in a comprehensive member directory;
•             Ask questions of your peers;
•             Network with fellow accounting colleagues;
•             Participate in niche discussions; and
•             Access documents, media and digital libraries.

After months of development and beta testing, The HUB is ready for you to explore. As a member, you already have a profile and are part of our Open Forum Community. Check it out by visiting hub.mscpaonline.org and log in using your existing mscpaonline.org username and password (you must first accept the terms and conditions).

The HUB is an evolving community. Once members are utilizing the Open Forum Community, you will be given the opportunity to join specialized communities based on our committees and niche discussions. We will also introduce new tools in the coming weeks to enhance your experience. Stay tuned for details!

We look forward to your feedback and suggestions on how we can make The HUB a member benefit you can't do business without.

If you have any questions about The HUB, please contact Kara Kieran.

Have a great weekend!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

MSCPA Submits Revenue Analysis to DOR
Despite the fact that tax season has come and gone, IRS scammers are still on the prowl. The MSCPA has been alerted by many members of threatening phone calls impersonating IRS agents who demand payment on phony tax bills. The MSCPA has been working with the Attorney General’s office to get the word out to Massachusetts taxpayers and could use your help. Please feel free to share this with your clients.

MA Revenues Continue to Slide as FY 16 Comes to a Close
With just days left in Fiscal Year 2016, Baker Administration officials are warning that revenues could drop to $750 million below benchmark. MSCPA members agree with the Administration's analysis that volatile capital gains led to lower than expected income payments, while high estimated payments in 2015 led to higher than expected refunds. The legislature quickly approved a temporary budget to provide funding through the end of July to allow budget negotiators additional time to finalize the FY 17 budget, which will begin on July 1.
