Dear Hannah,

Events over the last few days have caused me to reflect on connection and how important it is to all of us. Last night was our first annual CPArty! for newly certified CPAs in Massachusetts. Of course everyone enjoyed their drinks and snacks, but I think there was something deeper going on. Earlier in the day I was chatting with Joe Ciccarello, managing partner at Gray, Gray & Gray, and he was talking about how he still gets together with the friends he made when he first entered the profession. They are pretty much all managing partners now and they marvel at where the time went and where they are today. I hope that bonds like that started to form for the next generation at the CPArty.

The day before the event, The MSCPA enjoyed a wonderful afternoon in Boston doing a scavenger hunt in and around Faneuil Hall (See our FB page for pictures). Again, the connections we have made in our team are strong and important bonds that make our jobs better, and I think make us more productive and better at what we do.

A recent survey showed that 30% of our members attend MSCPA events. The good news is – that represents 3,000 in our profession who are taking advantage of opportunities to connect. The survey also showed that those who attend our events find that they get great value from their membership. If you haven’t attended any of our events, think about trying one this fall – at the end of the day, connections really do make us all stronger.

Have a great weekend!
