Treasurer, Board of Trustees
Meridian Academy is an intentionally small, economically diverse, project-based, independent secondary school in Boston. Founded in 2005, Meridian has become a model for 21st century education helping students develop as problem posers, problem solvers, creators, experimenters, and confident communicators in written, visual, and oral formats. Meridian has a distinctive financial design that permits half of our families to receive reduced tuitions that start at $0 (and are accompanied by other resources) up through tuition that is at 80% of the maximum. Overall, 35% of our budget is directed toward making Meridian accessible. Meridian’s students are drawn from Boston (approximately 75%) and nearby towns. Our curriculum is interdisciplinary to support the making of important connections between ideas: students take three core courses: Humanities, STEM, and Spanish. Writing, art and a focus on real-world applications of the students’ learning are across-the-curriculum themes. Meridian is seeking a treasurer with accounting strengths and an interest in progressive education to join our Board of Trustees and support the sound management of our school. Meridian’s budget is currently a little more than $3 million (including financial aid). To learn more, click here.
