Treasurer for the Board of Trustees of a Small, Independent, Progressive Secondary School

Meridian Academy is a deliberately small, economically diverse, project-based, college-preparatory independent secondary school in Boston. Since its founding in 2005, Meridian has become a model for 21st-century education—helping students grow as problem posers, problem solvers, creators, experimenters and confident communicators in written, visual and oral formats.

Our unique financial model allows over half of our families to pay reduced tuition, starting at $0 and scaling up to a maximum of 87% of full tuition. In total, 38% of our budget is dedicated to accessibility—three times the average for independent schools.

Approximately 75% of our students come from Boston, with the remainder from surrounding communities. Our interdisciplinary curriculum connects ideas across subject areas through three core courses: Humanities, STEM and Spanish or French. writing, art and real-world application are woven throughout all coursework.

Meridian is currently seeking a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This individual should bring strong accounting expertise and a passion for progressive education to support the school’s financial health. Meridian’s budget is just over $3 million, including financial aid. Our outgoing treasurer will be available to help onboard and mentor the new trustee.
